After an exhaustive search (I looked at Wikipedia), it has emerged that Dion Dublin's father is not Romeo Challenger from Showaddywaddy. Challenger is actually the father of Ben Challenger, a high jumper who won bronze at the 2002 Commonwealth Games. Trevor Oakes, his bandmate, fathered Scott and Stefan Oakes who were/are professional footballers. Challenger is, however, close friends with Eddie Dublin, Dion's actual father, and where we suppose this bizarre rumour surfaced from. Glad we cleared that one up then.
